Welcome to Lothian Woodworks

Based in Ormiston, East Lothian, Lothian Woodworks is a laser engraving and woodworking business run from a small workshop. Everything is designed and made by hand, with a focus on quality, detail, and creating work that lasts.

What I Do

I specialise in custom laser engraving and woodworking, producing awards, medals, signage, and personalised pieces. Each product is made in house using a mix of laser engraving and traditional woodworking techniques. The aim is simple, to create work that feels solid, thoughtful, and well made.

My Approach

I try to keep things as local and sustainable as possible. Wherever I can, I source materials from small businesses, and I use FSC-certified plywood to ensure responsible sourcing.

A Bit About Me

I’m Moray, a husband and father of three. Before Lothian Woodworks, I served in the army, then ran a successful landscaping business. Life changed direction when I stepped back to care for a loved one facing health challenges. That period pushed me towards something more creative, and Lothian Woodworks grew from that.
Woodworking and laser engraving weren’t part of the original plan, but they quickly became something I built everything around. The attention to detail and problem solving from my earlier years still plays a big part in how I work today.

My Commitment

Every piece is made with care, from the first design to the final finish. It’s about more than just making products, it’s about creating something that carries a bit of the journey behind it.

Thanks for taking the time to visit Lothian Woodworks.
